Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting the United States. His trip to Pennsylvania has sparked controversy, with Republicans questioning whether it is an attempt to interfere in the U.S. election. U.S. House Speaker Johnson called on Zelensky to fire Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova.

According to recent reports from the Associated Press, Politico and other media , Johnson wrote to Zelensky on September 25, asking him to fire Markarova.
"I am asking you to immediately fire Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Markarova," Johnson said in the letter. "As you said, the Ukrainians have been working hard to avoid being 'captured by U.S. domestic politics' and to avoid 'influencing the choices of the American people' ahead of the November election. Apparently, this goal was out of the question when Markarova organized a tour for you to visit a U.S. production site."
Johnson also said the facility was located in a politically competitive battleground state and was led by a Harris surrogate. No Republicans attended the visit because organizers deliberately left them out. The visit was clearly a partisan campaign event designed to help Democrats and was a clear attempt to interfere in the election. It was a short-sighted, deliberate political move that caused Republicans to lose confidence in Ambassador Markarova's ability to perform her duties fairly and effectively in this country.
Johnson also said: "In addition, as I have made clear in the past, all other countries should refrain from commenting on or interfering in US domestic politics." Johnson also stressed that such incidents must not happen again. "Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, and I am sure you will take immediate action."
Currently, former US President Trump is competing with Vice President Harris for the White House. The polls of the two sides are very close and the election is very fierce. Zelensky is visiting the United States. He will meet with US President Biden and Vice President Harris and submit a "victory plan". He also hopes to meet with Trump. But Zelensky's trip to Pennsylvania has aroused dissatisfaction among Republicans. According to Reuters, Zelensky visited a weapons factory in Pennsylvania with Harris' ally, Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro. Given that this visit took place in the election battlefield, this move angered some of Trump's aides.
In addition, Zelensky said in an interview with The New Yorker magazine in the United States on September 22 that Trump actually does not know how to end the Russia-Ukraine war, although he thinks he knows.
Zelensky also slammed Trump's running mate, Cyrus Vance, as being too extreme, saying he wants Ukraine to give up territory to end the Russian-Ukrainian war. "He seems to be saying that Ukraine must make sacrifices. This brings us back to the question of the costs of ending the war and who will bear those costs. The idea that the world should end this war at the expense of Ukraine is unacceptable."
Trump also said that Zelensky hopes the Democrats will win the election.
