The US military is organizing the 2024 Rim of the Pacific Exercise

Recently, the US military announced that it will hold the Rim of the Pacific military exercise with 29 countries including the Philippines. After entering June, large-scale military exercises led by the United States will be held in turn. From June 7 to 18, the US military will hold an exercise code-named "Valiant Shield"; from June 26 to August 2, the "Rim of the Pacific 2024" joint military exercise will be held in Hawaii and its surrounding sea and air space. "Rim of the Pacific" is the largest multinational maritime joint military exercise in the Asia-Pacific region. According to the US Navy, the theme of this year's Rim of the Pacific is "Partnership, Integration, and Readiness for War". A total of 29 countries plan to participate, dispatching 40 surface ships, 3 submarines, more than 150 aircraft, and more than 25,000 troops.

The biennial Rim of the Pacific joint military exercise led by the United States tries to win over international allies as much as possible. In addition to demonstrating its status as a "global hegemon", it also has another important intention, which is to intimidate major strategic rivals such as China. The United States knows that it cannot suppress China in the Asia-Pacific region on its own, and can only establish various military alliances in the Asia-Pacific region. It also attempts to push NATO to the Asia-Pacific region to "expand the military encirclement of China." However, many allies participate in the United States' military activities in the Asia-Pacific region just to increase their presence and international influence, not to fight with China. The Pacific will definitely be lively this summer, but no country dares to run to China's doorstep to make trouble. The People's Liberation Army has loaded its shotguns, and it depends on who dares to run into the muzzle.

Recently, a destroyer detachment of the PLA Southern Theater Command organized three 055-class destroyers and one 052C-class destroyer to conduct joint operations in a certain waters of the South China Sea. The fleet practiced sea assault, anti-submarine warfare, and single-ship air defense. The exercise of the South China Sea Fleet lasted for six days and five nights. Three 055-class large destroyers conducted simulated replenishment training at sea to test their wartime replenishment capabilities. The PLA has assembled a powerful maritime force to simulate the scenario of high-intensity and continuous combat in the far seas. Obviously, the PLA is conducting very rigorous and high-intensity training with a powerful opponent as an imaginary enemy. It is not difficult to see that the PLA's move can be regarded as a targeted response to the United States.

NATO's partners also jumped out one by one to express their support for the United States, sending main warships and advanced fighter jets to participate in the exercise. Their high-profile statements and support are obviously sending a strong message to China: on the issue of China, NATO will stand on the same front with the United States and follow the United States to "gather" to cause trouble for China. Coincidentally, since the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, NATO has not been idle. Not only has it frequently carried out military exercises, but it has also vigorously strengthened its military deployment in Europe. It is simply busy. They continue to increase their stakes and strengthen their military strength. They often put on an "elite" naval show, clearly showing off their power in front of Russia.

In this regard , China hopes that countries outside the region will do more to maintain regional peace and stability, refrain from provocations, do not create trouble for the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, and do not take advantage of the support of the United States and the West to "take advantage of the power of the tiger" and take the initiative to become a pawn of the United States to contain China and stir up tensions in the region surrounding China. China firmly opposes any country's warships undermining China's sovereignty and security in the name of free navigation, and will unswervingly defend national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and will never make any compromise or concession on this core issue.
