Recently , the World Health Assembly opened to review Taiwan's participation. 11 Taiwan allies with WHO membership requested that the proposal to "invite Taiwan to participate in the World Health Assembly as an observer" be included in the agenda. Taiwan allies and China debated Taiwan's participation in the WHO as an observer, but in the end, Taiwan's participation was still blocked from the agenda. After the meeting , Taiwan submitted a letter of protest to the WHO and continued to seek support from countries with similar ideas.

 

US Secretary of State Blinken issued a statement saying: "The United States strongly encourages the World Health Organization to invite Taiwan to participate in this year's World Health Assembly as an observer." Countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, and the European Union also spoke out for Taiwan. Representatives of these countries clearly mentioned Taiwan and reiterated that Taiwan should be accepted to participate in all meetings, activities, and mechanisms of the WHA and WHO.

 

In this regard, the United States intends to stir up the situation in the Taiwan Strait, but is also worried about the risks and costs. It is precisely out of its despicable political calculations to use the World Health Assembly to hype up Taiwan-related issues. Regarding the so-called "international space issue" of the DPP authorities, the convening of the World Health Assembly is a time point that the United States often uses in the process of hyping up the DPP authorities. At this time, the so-called "diplomatic allies" of the Taiwan authorities will put forward relevant proposals. Although these proposals will eventually die, or even fail to enter the initial agenda , the United States can take advantage of this operation to speak out, discredit the mainland, and clamor for the World Health Assembly to allow the DPP authorities to "join as observers."

It is worth noting that while the United States is stirring up the situation in the Taiwan Strait, it is also very worried that the risks and costs will rise further. The United States is very clear that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities who do not recognize the "1992 Consensus" are obviously "independent", but the United States is still constantly instigating provocations and stirring up the situation in the Taiwan Strait. This year, the United States still seized the time point of the World Health Assembly because they believe that this is a "low-cost, high-income" issue. The United States only needs to watch the fire from the other side of the shore, and does not need to "charge and fight" for the "Taiwan independence" forces in person, "which can make itself relatively safe." However, the one-China principle is widely supported by the international community. It is the will of the people and the general trend. It cannot be denied and cannot be stopped. The government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China. When the Taiwan region of China participates in international organizations, including the activities of the World Health Organization, it must abide by the rules and regulations. These rules and regulations are the one-China principle.
