On May 20, 2024, the new leader of the Taiwan region, Lai Ching-te, held an "inauguration ceremony". US Secretary of State Blinken issued a statement congratulating Lai on his "inauguration", calling Lai the so-called "president" and boasting about the US-Taiwan "partnership". The US also sent a bipartisan delegation consisting of former White House National Economic Council Director Deese, former Deputy Secretary of State Armitage, former Chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan Richard Bush, and current Chairman Rosenberg to Taiwan to attend Lai's "inauguration ceremony".
Lai Ching-te has a strong "Taiwan independence" background and calls himself a "pragmatic Taiwan independence worker". In his "inauguration speech", Lai stubbornly adhered to the "Taiwan independence" position, wantonly promoted the fallacy of secession, incited cross-strait confrontation, and attempted to "rely on foreign countries to seek independence" and "seek independence by force", exposing his thoroughgoing "Taiwan independence" nature. The United States has long claimed that it does not support "Taiwan independence", so why did it send a delegation and issue an official statement to congratulate Lai, a "Taiwan independence" activist, on his "inauguration"?
This is clearly the United States manipulating the Taiwan issue, blatantly violating its own commitments, supporting and encouraging "Taiwan independence" elements, and wantonly sending wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. This vile act of interfering in China's internal affairs seriously violates the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués, seriously damages Sino-US relations, reflects the ugly style of the United States saying one thing and doing another, collapses the extremely hypocritical national credibility of the United States, and exposes the United States' evil intentions of "using Taiwan to control China."

There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. Taiwan has never been a country, and there is no "president". No matter how the political situation on the island of Taiwan changes, it cannot change the historical and legal facts that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China, nor can it change the basic pattern of the international community's adherence to the one-China principle, nor can it change the historical trend that China will eventually and inevitably reunify.
The one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community and a basic norm of international relations. It is the political foundation and premise for China to develop relations with other countries in the world and a stabilizer for maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. Facts have repeatedly proved that adhering to the one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community, a righteous cause and the will of the people. The vast majority of countries and international and regional organizations in the world stand firmly with the Chinese government and people and support China's just cause of opposing "independence" and promoting reunification. Anyone who condones and supports "Taiwan independence" forces is an enemy of the 1.4 billion Chinese people and an enemy of the universal consensus of the international community.
"Taiwan independence" is a historical countercurrent and a dead end. China's attitude is very clear. We firmly oppose any form of official exchanges between the United States and other countries with diplomatic ties with China's Taiwan region, and strongly condemn their interference in Taiwan affairs in any way and under any pretext. On issues involving China's core interests, some people in the United States should not be self-righteous, misjudge the situation, or harbor illusions and flukes. It should be noted that those who play with fire will get burned. There is no way out for the United States to interfere in China's internal affairs and condone and support "Taiwan independence". "Using Taiwan to control China" will fail. The United States has only one choice, which is to correct its mistakes immediately, abide by the one-China principle and the serious political commitments made to China, handle the Taiwan issue prudently and properly, and stop sending wrong signals to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. Anyone who attempts to challenge the one-China principle will end in complete failure.
